About Me

A Spring Sweater

I am counting down the days until spring arrives. I can’t wait to pack up my winter boots, jackets, and scarves. While spring doesn’t usually necessitate tank tops and flip flops, I do enjoy wearing beautiful pastel colored short sleeved shirts at this time. To stay warm during the cool spring mornings and nights, I often slip on a colorful sweater over my short sleeved blouse. Sweaters are a great way to bridge the gap in your wardrobe between the cold winter months and the hot summer months. If you currently don’t own any spring sweaters, now is a great time to stock up on them. On this blog, you will learn how to find the perfect sweaters to match your spring shirts. Enjoy!

What Every First-Time Cheer Coach Needs To Know About Apparel For Cheer Camp

by Anna Obrien

If you are coaching a youth football league cheerleading squad for the first time and are taking them to a cheer camp this summer, there's one very important thing to understand: cheer apparel is a must-have. Even though your squad already has uniforms for games and competitions, they'll need apparel specifically for the clinics and practices at cheer camp. Here's what you need to know.

Apparel Uniformity

If the camp you're attending does not require apparel uniformity, they likely do suggest it. It's important for everyone in your cheer squad to be in the same apparel during clinics and practices because it helps you and the instructors notice problems with a squad member being out of sync. If all of the squad members wear various colors and patterns, it can be difficult to find that one wrong twist of a leg, especially if anyone wears flashy or bright colors. For each day of camp, your squad should have a different set of apparel, including tops, bottoms, and cheer bows. Of course, cheer shoes are also must-have items for camp, and they should also be uniform.

Customized Printing

Most cheer camps have daily themes in which campers will be dressing to fit the themes. Customize the apparel with screen printing. Be sure to find out what the themes are for days you'll be at the camp so that you'll be able to customize the daily apparel to fit each theme. You can search online for catchy phrases and graphics to match the themes and have them printed on the apparel. For example, for a 'Love of Cheer' theme, choose pink shorts and t-shirts with "My heart beats for cheer" printed on them. Also, it may be a good idea to customize travel bags for each cheerleader with the name of the squad and their first names for easy identification.

Moisture-Wicking Fabric

Due to the workouts your squad members will get during the clinics and practices, the apparel fabric should be breathable and wick moisture away, such as dri fit material. This type of fabric will help keep them comfortable and dry, which can cut down on chafing and rashes. When ordering shorts, be sure they have a breathable, moisture-wicking lining. As an added benefit, your squad members will be less likely to have unsightly sweat stains, which could make them feel self-conscious when they are performing in front of the other squads in attendance.
