About Me

A Spring Sweater

I am counting down the days until spring arrives. I can’t wait to pack up my winter boots, jackets, and scarves. While spring doesn’t usually necessitate tank tops and flip flops, I do enjoy wearing beautiful pastel colored short sleeved shirts at this time. To stay warm during the cool spring mornings and nights, I often slip on a colorful sweater over my short sleeved blouse. Sweaters are a great way to bridge the gap in your wardrobe between the cold winter months and the hot summer months. If you currently don’t own any spring sweaters, now is a great time to stock up on them. On this blog, you will learn how to find the perfect sweaters to match your spring shirts. Enjoy!

The Case For Wearing A Wristwatch In The Smartphone Age

by Anna Obrien

At one time, a good wristwatch was a must-have accessory for most people. In today's world full of screens that tell the time and do an almost infinite number of other things besides, watches have become less ubiquitous, especially among the younger generation. Between 1991 and 2014, the number of watches sold worldwide dropped from 750 million to 440 million, or about 2% a year. In 2010, only 25% of teenagers wore a watch. But if you've left watches behind or never considered wearing one, there are a few good reasons to rethink your position. Take a look at some great reasons to wear a wristwatch.

A Wristwatch Is Reliable

Have you ever had to dig to the bottom of your purse or check every one of your pockets to find your phone, just to check the time? What if when you finally pulled the phone out, you realized that the battery was dead and the phone was off?

A wristwatch is one of the most reliable ways to know the time every time you need to know it. You won't lose it in a pocket or purse because it's right there, strapped to your wrist. You only need to lift your arm to see it. Wristwatches use minimal battery power or none at all – a quality wristwatch can give you the accurate time for years if you take care of it, without ever needing to locate an outlet in a public place to plug it in.

A Wristwatch Won't Distract You

Maybe you don't mind digging out your phone every time you want to know what time it is… or maybe your phone is just always in your hand. But how often to you go to check the time, only to end up also checking your email, your text messages, and your social media apps before putting the phone back down again? Before you know it, half an hour has gone by.

There's a definite appeal to carrying around a pocket-sized computer at all times – it means you never have to be bored while standing in line or waiting for a bus again. But there's also something to be said for eliminating distractions and getting right to what you need to know. When punctuality matters, you need to know the time – and you don't need to get distracted by a host of other activities. A wristwatch tells you just what you need to know at the moment, and nothing more.

A Wristwatch is a Fashion Statement

Wristwatches may not have multiple distracting functions, but they do have a purpose other than just telling time. They also serve as an accessory that complements your clothing and makes a statement about you to any onlookers.

A high-quality watch tells people that you value craftsmanship and design. The shape of the watch's face speaks to whether you prefer a classic style (most watch faces are round) or something unique and different (like a watch with a square face). The watch band speaks to your personality as well. A gold or silver band says luxury. Stainless steel or titanium, often found on diver's watches, say functionality. A good leather band says simple, classic elegance.

Smartphones are convenient and have their place, but they aren't a substitute for a good quality timepiece. A good watch is still a valuable accessory that should be part of your daily wear. Check out places like watchsprocket.com for more information.
