About Me

A Spring Sweater

I am counting down the days until spring arrives. I can’t wait to pack up my winter boots, jackets, and scarves. While spring doesn’t usually necessitate tank tops and flip flops, I do enjoy wearing beautiful pastel colored short sleeved shirts at this time. To stay warm during the cool spring mornings and nights, I often slip on a colorful sweater over my short sleeved blouse. Sweaters are a great way to bridge the gap in your wardrobe between the cold winter months and the hot summer months. If you currently don’t own any spring sweaters, now is a great time to stock up on them. On this blog, you will learn how to find the perfect sweaters to match your spring shirts. Enjoy!

Gift Ideas for Dog Owners

by Anna Obrien

If you have a dog lover in your life and are looking for the perfect gift for her, consider treating her furry friend to a treat, as well. You can create a gift basket filled with goodies, such as edible items and leather dog collars, that will please both your loved one as well as her pet.

Dog-inspired gift baskets are ideal for a wide range of special events and celebrations, including birthdays, holidays, anniversaries, graduations and even bridal showers and weddings—especially if the couple shares a pet. They also make thoughtful "get well" gifts for a special friends or family members who could use cheering up.

You don't have to break the bank when creating the perfect dog-themed gift basket, as there are items available at every price point. You can start with one high-quality piece, such as a black fine leather dog collar, and then design the rest of the basket around it, adding in less expensive treats as you go.

When it comes to choosing the gift basket, look for one that the recipient can reuse, such as a sturdy wicker version that can store dog treats or toys. As a creative touch, line it with a paw- or bone-print bandanna that the pet can wear later.

Here are some dog-inspired gift basket items to get you started:

1. Leather Dog Collar

Splurge on a real leather dog collar that the pet owner can enjoy for years to come. Unlike their less durable cloth or plastic counterparts, leather collars will stand the test of time while looking elegant.

You can have the present personalized with the dog's name and owner's phone number, or a special design, such as sparkling rhinestone hearts or bones for a bit of bling. For a tougher look, you can't go wrong with metal stud details.

2. Edible Treats

Include edible treats for both the celebrant and her dog to create a well-rounded gift. For the pet, go with traditional biscuits and bones, or even homemade goodies.  As a whimsical touch, surprise the gift recipient with frosted dog-shaped cookies or a "doggie bag" filled with all of her favorite snack items.

You can also customize the food items to reflect a specific event or holiday, such as Christmas tree- or heart-shaped biscuits.

3. Dog Toys

Both the dog owner and her pet will enjoy a selection of new dog toys, including balls, stuffed animals, and rubber noise-makers. Take the time of year into consideration when choosing the best toys, as some are better suited for either outdoor or indoor play.
