About Me

A Spring Sweater

I am counting down the days until spring arrives. I can’t wait to pack up my winter boots, jackets, and scarves. While spring doesn’t usually necessitate tank tops and flip flops, I do enjoy wearing beautiful pastel colored short sleeved shirts at this time. To stay warm during the cool spring mornings and nights, I often slip on a colorful sweater over my short sleeved blouse. Sweaters are a great way to bridge the gap in your wardrobe between the cold winter months and the hot summer months. If you currently don’t own any spring sweaters, now is a great time to stock up on them. On this blog, you will learn how to find the perfect sweaters to match your spring shirts. Enjoy!

5 Things To Pack For Your Celebratory Cruise

by Anna Obrien

Going on a cruise soon? Cruises are an excellent way to celebrate a milestone, special occasion, or event. Make the most of your trip by packing a few simple things that can enhance your cruise, while you create lasting memories.

Make sure to pack these things for your holiday cruise:

1. Sun Protection

Nothing messes up a cruise like a nasty sunburn; make sure to bring items to protect yourself. This extends beyond just sunscreen- think about solutions like a hooded sun protection shirt, which is perfect for cruising. They are cool, comfortable, and versatile, so they deserve a spot in your suitcase. If bringing caps, make sure they have a brim to protect your face.

2. Dancing Shoes

So, you are celebrating, right? In that case, you are going to want to bring your dancing shoes. Make sure to bring club attire — head to toe — for late-night partying in the cruise ship's club. The dress code in the ship's club is more casual than a conventional urban nightclub but dress up anyway. Show up and show off to celebrate your event, holiday, or achievement.

3. A Windbreaker

In the Bahamas, May through September is the rainy season, in fact, it is also monsoon season, which means it can get very windy. Even though the climate is warm, it can be breezy and cool on the water. A light windbreaker that folds down and doesn't take up much space is perfect to toss in your bag or backpack when outside.

4. Bottle of Wine

You might want to bring a bottle of your favorite champagne or prosecco for your celebration from home, yet the rules vary wildly so check your cruise line's policy before you bring wine aboard on embarkation day. Most cruises allow one 750ml bottle of wine per passenger, if you are 21 years or older, including Carnival Cruise Line. Some do not allow any wine or spirits to be brought aboard at embarkation, such as Costas Cruise Line.

Be prepared, however, to pay an uncorking fee if you choose to drink your wine in a common area, like the dining room. It is a surcharge that the cruise line asserts, but if you drink it in your cabin using your own opener, you won't incur the fee.

5. Door Decor

If you are ringing in the new year or celebrating a milestone, make sure to bring along some festive decorations and embellishments for the cabin door. Decorating the doors to cabins has long been a fun hobby, but it also helps make your door distinctive for easy recognition in the long hallways of identical doorways. Crepe paper, signage, cut-outs, and garland are all great ideas; don't forget a roll of scotch tape. Some cruise ships offer door decorations for sale prior to embarking, so check your cruise line's website to learn more.

Don't forget these things when embarking on your next celebratory cruise. From mens hooded sun shirts to protect you from the elements to decorations and tape to adorn your door, these all contribute to a memorable cruise and fun getaway.
